The Des Moines Register ran a story today that reported that Iowa added 8,000 jobs in July reflecting continued economic strength in the state.

Iowa has one of the nations lowest unemployment rates at 6%.

Highlights from the story, which illustrated job growth across multiple sectors, include:

“Nonfarm employment for July reflected a resurgence in the state’s construction and manufacturing sectors,” said Teresa Wahlert, director of Iowa Workforce Development. “Both industry sectors advanced to their highest employment levels for 2011, offering renewed optimism for a stronger performance in the second half of the year.”

“Manufacturing added 1,800 jobs, due primarily to hiring in nondurable goods production, such as making breakfast cereal. Iowa has 5,900 more factory jobs than a year earlier.”

Particularly reflective of the gathering strength in the Iowa Real Estate market is the fact that:

“Construction has 2,500 more jobs compared with a year ago.”
